APPROACH

I believe that every man fundamentally wants to be his best person, to grow—to walk up the mountain with purpose, into the life that speaks to him, with a backpack emptied of all the old heavy crap.

So, what’s the hang up? Well, if answering and acting accordingly were only that easy. It is not. But starting to ask questions, to explore the background, to contemplate the blocks is not difficult with the help of another.

As a poet, I like metaphors: to start the process, let’s  pull out those old boots and look at them, put them on again, feeling them—note all the scuffs, discoloration, wear, familiarity, discomforts, smell, dated style, history, and—together—discuss why they are still in your shoe cabinet.

Therapy is not a lecture and not a quick fix.

In its most basic form, therapy is a discussion—one where you set the pace and direction. My approach is to assist you in finding new meaning in life.

We explore the stories we tell ourselves and others, and how these stories shape our choices and behaviours.

We look at life’s fundamental questions—meaning, freedom, responsibility, and mortality—with honesty and courage.

We attempt to uncover and work through unconscious patterns of thought and feeling that may be influencing your  in hidden ways.

We bring our attention to the present moment, to relate to our thoughts and feelings with greater awareness and compassion.

Our discussions will recognize and reshape unhelpful patterns of thinking and behaviour.

And we will shift our attention toward strengths and possibilities, helping you to clarify and move toward the goals that matter most.

What you can expect: a space that is respectful, honest, and grounded. No judgment, no pressure—just support in discovering what’s possible for you.
